LAYER Zia Resist can be applied on the "virgin" paper surface and once dry can be removed at any point in your painting. It can also be applied after paint has been sprayed and then removed a step or ten later! The effects will be very different. For a bright, paper white, apply resist FIRST and remove LAST. For a more subtle look, apply after you have "painted" and remove at any step. Remove the nozzle on the Zia Resist bottle to be able to directly dip your brush into the resist. You can now paint in areas with the resist to block out other color applications and allow you to control . Make sure your rub a tiny bit of dish soap into your brush so the resist does not dry on the bristles and ruin your brush! LAYER Use Zia's Metallic Flows at any point in your painting process. Use them directly from the squeeze applicator bottle and "draw" lines and/or scribbles OR hold the bottle above your paper surface and while applying pressure to squeeze the paint out, fling or throw the paint onto the paper using your arm/wrist to get great splatter patterns! Remove the nozzle on the Metallic Flow bottle to be able to directly dip your brush into the "Flow". Apply the paint with your brush to your paper surface; paint in shapes/areas using your brush for more control. LAYER Use a variety of plastic/paper stencils to build up layers of color, texture and pattern. Try "masking" large areas with mat boards with different cutout openings. Look for plastic foliage items, dried plant/flower pieces, sticks, twigs and plastic pre-cut images. Make your own paper or plastic stencils for true originality!
